Reviews, From the Kids & Praise)
I stayed up too late and got up to early to finish it. I was unable to put it down until the end and then I wanted more.
Lissa Pabast, Teacher - Chicago, Ill, USA

Thank you for the AWESOME presentation! Now it is impossible to keep the book in the library and I have a waiting list. I get comments such as "awesome" and "I couldn't put it down" all the time. You have captured the audience, another J.K. Rowling. Thank you again!
Anne Bartel, Librarian, Glengarry School

It has been at least three months since we had your wonderful presentation at our school and even after getting copies of the book, we have a hard time keeping up with the demand. I, too read it and found it hard to put down!

Characters and Beasts

One of the Orphans of Bloodstock, although the only one whose placement was intercepted. Instead she was found and raised by two spinster sisters, Octavia and Carblotta Karbunkulus who convinced her they were her aunts. Root is currently participating in the perilous Magisterial Treasure Quests of DréAmm where she swiftly, albeit reluctantly becomes a household name. Team member of the Valadors.

Lian Blick

A Nodmin or Nod for short, which are a race of beings known for their huge noses and ears so fat that they droop over. Son of Lord Blick, the Bredin Master and Grand Captain of Defence. DréAmm born and raised with a fierce interest in Natruism. Lian, an earnest boy with neatly swept hair and pecan eyes, prefers knowledge over anything else, especially socializing. Team member of the Valadors.

Dwyn Puffler

An Orphan of Bloodstock, raised in Happy Oaks and now returned to DréAmm to participate in the Magisterial Treasure Quests. A tall and athletic looking boy with a thick, casual wave of dark hair and a penchant for making girls swoon. His active ego and spontaneous actions make for a rather uncomfortable clash with his Valador teammates.

Abbadale Mater

Sister to Argo Bumplekins. The first volunteer to crossover and live with humans as Mistress of a Placement Orphanage.

Argo Bumplekins

A high level Natruid with powerful means to use the forces of nature. Unanimously chosen to create a means to Place the Orphans of Bloodstock with humans whilst maintaining complete secrecy to their whereabouts for their own protection.

Arvinamin Wigglit

Father of Kalliope, the Beloved. A Natruid, first to discover the potency of the Weeping Stemma, whose Tree Tears are powerful healing agents.

Benoline Crabbitt

Renowned Hovermutt breeder and champion for the proper care and feeding of “these noble beasts”, Mr. Crabbitt travels throughout DrĂ©Amm organizing Selections, lecturing and often saving them from dire situations.

Brédin

Ancient beings gifted with immortality and the wisdom it affords them. They are renowned for their commitment to the higher pursuits of peace, poetry and fine arts. Paradoxically they are also amongst the most powerful military force in all of DréAmm.

Carblotta Karbunkulus

One of the spinster sisters who lives in a literal half house in the town of Charm. She is the lank and scrawny one and she lives on the pucey-brown side.

Elgart

A Nod. Head of renovations for the House of Gub. Hardly ever seen without a pail and other such supplies in tow.

Endimyra Figgoober

Controversial lead dancer of the Dancing Figgoobers, which are beautiful feathered beings with human legs. Endimyra has her beak polished weekly and is very fond of her golden toe ring.

Flink

Block headed thug friend of Kor Bludgit. Not too bright.

Council representative given the very important assignment of bringing the Orphans of Bloodstock to Gub safely. The very first to witness the arrival of the orphans.

Hilly Punyun

Daughter of Hyvis Punyun and, like her mother, driven to succeed at all costs. Head of The Pinks, a quest team with an uncanny ability to be at the right place at the right time, Hilly Punyun is likened to a princess. A snooty, spoiled rotten princess.

Hillywur Gub, Master

A Nod. Latest owner of the state castle, one of eighteen in a long line of businessmen and women who have attempted to convert the castle into a merchant venture of some sort. All having failed due to the castle’s Krux.

Jorab

A magician of high order and reverence. Though normally somewhat of a Nomad, he remains closely attached to the Quest, especially when he becomes a team guide by default. Jorab is powerful and often at odds with DréAmm politics but, as an Allower, he does not assert his power.

Kakos

Also known as the Murk Lord. A powerful magician, once a member of The Ring, who has been in secret so long his features are not remembered and even feared now. He has waged a war against DréAmm and is considered to be an evil force such as has not been known before.

Mother of Kalliope, the Beloved. A well respected writer and arts advocate in Fellows.

Kalliope, the Beloved

A powerful magician who was a member of The Ring. Known for her amazing healing abilities, brought about by an elixer she created called Miist, Kalliope could even bring life back to those who had died and was a welcome relief on the battlefield. Kreek Nobly

Krism

Another child who had been taken into the service of Kakos. Krism escaped with hundreds more when the Black Market was destroyed. He has not been seen since.

Three time Swooshing champion and endorser of Ickly’s Tooth Polish.

Milden Ibbbs

A participant in the Magisterial Treasure Quest of DréAmm. His father is Milwart Ibbbs, a member of council and Maven of mystic beings. A friendly contrast to the nasty intentions of Kor Bludgit and Hilly Punyun.

Mordgidika Keen, Madam

Considered the “Hub of Gub”, Mordge is much like a great, great, great, great, great grandmother complete with frilly layers and a generous supply of sparkles flitting about. She makes the best Chorm in DrĂ©Amm and is often sought out for advice that comes from her keen intuitive wisdom.

Octavia Karbunkulus

The other spinster sister who lives in the other half of the half house in the town of Charm. She is the squat, pudged one and she lives on the orangeymustard side. She likes to think she is more clever than her sister.

Slim Pulpit

Secretary to the Guardian of DréAmm. A slick, beady-eyed man very pleased with his ability to denigrate others. Often referred to as "Toad".

Studaben Picklepug

Narrowly won election as Guardian of DréAmm. A showman who thrives as the centre of attention. It was Picklepug who brainstormed the Quest, though it came with sharp criticism. Began as a rich business man who, many believe has conned and bought his way into power.

Swinston

Assistant to Lord Blick. Not particularly liked by… well, anyone really.

Tompy Fibler

BEASTS

Beanbug

Bloworms

Bloworms are black with bright little red balls for eyes. And they are the size of a finger. Once swallowed a Bloworm can keep its host afloat in water for many hours.

Bulks

Stone giants easily twenty feet tall and ten feet across. Though peaceful and dull in nature they can be riled to heated discussions on peanut butter. They have a very special gift for detecting even the minutest of magic in someone, which comes in handy at DréAmm border crossings.

Eidolon

Your basic dead people, though throbbing with the power of the Underworld.

Figgoober

A massive, colorful bird with brightly polished orange beak and human legs. Known for lovely synchronized dancing and often traveling in flocks of at least fifty. Endimyra Figgoober is the most recent Figgoober to ascend the ranks to that of lead dancer, though her means were rather scandalous.

Hovermutt

Noble beasts of the canine persuasion. Slightly larger than a pony, Hovermutts are the main mode of transportation in DréAmm. Hovers do not have the physical capacity to soar and are generally limited to a standard two-person height.

Sea Wraith

A silent, otherworldly creature. Most of its features are hidden in the black folds of its cloak. Of what is seen is a long, tentacled eye that hangs grey and limp down the front. The Sea Wraith’s ferry is the sole means to cross the ocean to the Savage Islands. Its fee: one drop of blood.
